Commisions, Commisions, Commisions

As you may have guessed from the title I am now undertaking commisions again for figures/ vehicles/ships etc ranging from 15-28mm. Any period can be done, using historically accurate uniform colours to your requirements.
I have over twenty years experience as a painter, ranging from Dark Ages to WW2 and beyond. Examples of my work can be viewed on this blog.

Reasonable prices and turnaround times available, depending on quantity and service required. Painting can be just figures, or figures, plus bases?

The Jomsvikings are Here!

After getting my copy of the new Northern Fury supplement from Gripping Beast, I decided to get some more Jomsvikings and build another warband (This SAGA game really is cheap to get into, you dont need many figures etc etc lol).

My efforts so far


1 Warlord
3 groups of Hearthguard

This was supplemented by Jarl Sigvaldi and his Jomsvikings which I already had. I will use some of my existing viking's as warriors, luckily you don't have levies to worry about in the Jomsvikings Warband.

I used and converted the free Scottish Warlord and the other three I had lying around. I particular like the guy with the wench slung over his shoulder!

All in all very impressed with the figures and I'm looking forward to getting them on the table and unleashing some Wrath on the enemy.

SAGA "The Black Raven" !!

I decided my Viking's needed a longship so they could rape and pillage more efficiently.lol So i got a Revell Longship from Ebay and made it up. Quite please with the results,and i decided to do a stowed sail, rather than the pre-formed plastic one that came with the kit?

Anglo-Dane recruits

After seeing a special offer at Blacktree design (40% off!) i have got some new Anglo-Dane recruits to replace the Wargames Factory plastic warriors and Levy that I had. Pictures below...

SAGA Baggage

After reading through the scenario's at the back of the SAGA rulebook I thought it would be good to try the Escort scenario at the club meeting this week? So after placing an order with GB for some Manx Langton sheep and Pack Horses I then remembered that i had a cart laying about somewhere as well( I think it was originally a celtic cart I'd bought ages ago for a project that never got off the ground?). Pictures below....

And all the baggage together, a juicy prize for some marauding Vikings perhaps?

SAGA Anglo-Dane Warband

My third and final Warband, the Anglo Danes! Hurrah. First up the Warlord

Then I happened to find this guy in the back of a draw, he is the figure they gave away at Salute06? So I am undecided who to use as Warlord

Next up The Hearthguard, 4 points in total, two armed with Dane-Axes, one with spears, and one with swords.

Next are two points of warriors

And finally one point of Levy

So thats 7 points in total, plus a choice of Warlord to give me a bit of variation. Hoping to get them out on the table at the club meeting on Sunday, and take some pictures of the games too.

SAGA Viking Warband

My second Warband are the Vikings, again 7 points worth to allow a bit of variation in the force. These performed very well against the Normans at the club on Sunday, winning 4 games out of five!

First up the Warlord ( Gripping Beast freebie, in leiu of dice), Hearthguard and Berserkers.

SAGA Norman Warband

The rest of the guys for my Norman SAGA Warband giving me 7 points in total, so I can have a bit of flexibility depending on who I'm up against??

First up 4 points worth of Knights, these are all plastic Conquest figures apart from one who is a metal Gripping beast figure, and was my original Warlord. He has since been demoted to the ranks following the purchase of the Conquest figure "Robert Dux", who is much more animated on his rearing horse? Shields are all LBMS transfers, a fantastic product in my view.

Second up is two units of Sergeants, one armed with spears and in quilted armour, the second armed with crossbows, all minis are Crusader this time. Really love these boys and think I might get some more Crusader mini's at some point?

And finally my Levy Archers, this time a mixture of makers, Gripping Beast and Crusader

SAGA Norman Warlord

Ok,

First up is the leader of my Norman warband, Robert Dux

The figure is from Conquest Games. I also have a box of their fabulous plastic knights, which I have painted up as well to form the knights points for my Warband.......pictures to follow

SAGA, SAGA, SAGA

Well i have taken the plunge and gotten into another wargame period, namely Dark Age skirmish using the new Gripping Beast SAGA ruleset. I have to say they ar pretty impressive and provide a different type of game with the use of "Battleboards" to give your troops activations and abilities. I will be posting pictures of my warbands in due course and have so far painted Anglo-Danes, Vikings, and Normans.

i took this lot along to the club and Sunday and we played about 5 games in total and some of the players are now looking at getting the rules and some figures. Only Vikings and Normans  took part in the games and the Normans won one game and the Vikings the rest! Unfortunately my camera battery died so I couldn't take any pictures, but great fun was had by all.
