VBCW

Another project in the pipeline is going to be a Very British Civil War. I like skirmish games and this has caught my imagination. Basically an alternative history game, with the King failing to abdicate and marrying Mrs Simpson. Mosely is made P.M and the Facists side with the crown. The church is the main opposition, along with local Militia's. I'm in the process of painting up some Facists, Territorials, Militia, and Anglican League troops. Rules will be Triump and Tradegy and first up is some Facist Transports which I converted and painted from LLedo trucks, purchased from Ebay.

The Jomsvikings are Here!

After getting my copy of the new Northern Fury supplement from Gripping Beast, I decided to get some more Jomsvikings and build another warband (This SAGA game really is cheap to get into, you dont need many figures etc etc lol).

My efforts so far

1 Warlord
3 groups of Hearthguard

This was supplemented by Jarl Sigvaldi and his Jomsvikings which I already had. I will use some of my existing viking's as warriors, luckily you don't have levies to worry about in the Jomsvikings Warband.

My Warlord
A lovely sculpt

1st group
I used and converted the free Scottish Warlord and the other three I had lying around. I particular like the guy with the wench slung over his shoulder!

2nd Group
All GB Figures

3rd Group
Again, all GB

Group shot, including Jarl Sigvaldi on the top right

All in all very impressed with the figures and I'm looking forward to getting them on the table and unleashing some Wrath on the enemy.

SAGA "The Black Raven" !!

I decided my Viking's needed a longship so they could rape and pillage more efficiently.lol So i got a Revell Longship from Ebay and made it up. Quite please with the results, and i decided to do a stowed sail, rather than the pre-formed plastic one that came with the kit?

Let me know what you think, comments appreciated.

Flames of War Early War Czech Panzer Company

Having decided to do a German Czech Panzer Company for the forthcoming EarlyWar League at the club I have started to paint up the miniatures. Initially I've got HQ, 2 x Panzer 38t Platoons, and a Panzer II platoon, which are all Zvezda models (very good too, especially the 38t's), and the transport for my Panzerschutzen platoon (4 x 250/1C's),m which are plastic Soldier.

HQ Platoon

Panzer 38t Platoon

Panzer 38t Platoon
Panzerschutzen Transports
Panzer II Platoon

The remainder of the Company are the Panzerschutzen Infantry stands, 10.5cm Artillery Battery, SdKfz 221(MG) and SdKfz 222(2cm), which will be the recon Platoon, and finally Priority Air Support, with Stuka Schwerpunkt.
I will post pictures of the rest of the Company as and when I get them done?

Comments welcome

Cheers

Flames of war Campaign Update

At this weeks Club meeting i played two games in our FoW league, both against British Armoured Company's. The first game was very close and from turn three either of us could have forced the other to do a Company Morale Check. As I had killed the British 1 ic I could have won the game. However a British Tank Platoon Close Assaulted my Infantry holding one of my Objectives and wiped them out, Game Over! lost 5-2

The second game was close as well but this time i had a platoon of 3 PaK 40's and an Infantry platoon holding one objective. However my opponent had two recon units (one Stuarts, the other Carriers), which basically machine-gunned the crap out of my PaK 40's and Infantry in the first turn. This put me on the backfoot a bit and while I managed to destroy most of the recon in my turn one and two, it gave him the upper-hand? He then followed up with a Tank Platoon and his HQ platoon in turn 4 and close assaulted the remaining infantry holding the objective. Again, Game Over. Lost 6-1
The only saving grace in both games was that my Tigers seem to be pretty much invulnerable to British Tank fire, in fact the platoon of 3 Tigers were unscathed in both games? I didn't help my cause with some terrible dice throwing in both games?
I now have to work out how to play my Germans to stop them getting over run by superior forces? I may Kampfgruppe one of the Tigers with a Gepanzertgrenadier Platoon to be a mobile defence, and use the other Gepanzertgrenadier Platoon, and my 2 remaing Tigers to attack with?

Other games yesterday saw German SS beating Russian Infantry, a German Armoured Company beat a Russian Tank Company, in two other games, and British Armoured beating German Armoured, so honours pretty much even overall?

Bill who has organised the League is keen on doing an Early War League next, so I'm going to do a 7th Panzer Company, with Panzer 38t's, and Panzer II's. Bill is doing Polish, there will be a couple of French Companies, and another couple of German Companies. I'll post some pictures of my Germans as and when I get them done.
